Indian Pharmaceutical Association

Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) is the premier professional association of pharmacists in India formed in the year 1939. IPA has a member base of over 13,000 spread across the length & breadth of the nation. IPA operates through 20 state branches and 45 local branches. The members represent various facets of pharmaceutical profession viz. Industry, Regulatory Affairs, Community Pharmacy, Hospital Pharmacy, Education and students forum. IPA is actively involved in advising and making representations to the government and various authorities on matters of professional importance to upgrade the standards of professional services offered by the pharmacists.

IPA received the best association 2015 award at the 5th India Association Congress.

Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association

Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association (IDMA) was formed in 1961.

Successfully completed 50 glorious years of providing affordable quality medicines, not only to our people, but people all over the world.

Membership of about 750 wholly-Indian large, medium and small companies and State Boards in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh & Uttaranchal, Haryana, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

Turnover of Indian pharma industry has grown exponentially from Rs.10 crore (about US$ 2 million) in 1948 to about Rs. 1,00,000 crore (US $ 21 billion) today, a growth rate of over 15%.

Members' Indian Market share – about 75% in formulations and about 85% in bulk drugs.

Exports of about Rs. 50,000 crore (over US $ 10 billion) last year growing at 22% average.

Members' Export Record – about 65% of India's total drugs & pharma exports.

MoUs signed with China Pharmaceutical Industry Association (CPIA) and Korea Pharmaceutical Industry Association (KPMA).

There are over 170 US FDA approved manufacturing facilities, over 150 EDQM approved facilities and many more are certified by regulatory authorities of UK-MCA, Australia, South Africa, WHO-GMP etc.

India is ranked 3rd largest country in terms of production volume and 14th in terms of value with 10% of World's Production but only 1.5% of Value.

The Indian Pharmaceutical Industry employs over 4.2 million personnel, both in manufacturing and ancillary sectors.

IDMA has been in the forefront actively supporting Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is compiling and bringing out the Indian Pharmacopoeia for many years and also continues its whole-hearted support to the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) in its activities.

IDMA has been successfully organizing Pharmaceutical Analysts Convention (PAC) for many years with the active participation of the Regulatory Authorities, both Central and States. The 13th IDMA-APA PAC 2010 is being organized on 14th and 15th October 2010 in Mumbai.

Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council

The dynamic growth of Indian Pharma Industry, a knowledge based industry, and the recommendations of four major Pharma associations made the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to realize the need for separate export promotion council. Accordingly, Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (PHARMEXCIL) has been set up on 12.5.2004. With its notification No.61 dt. 16.3.2005, Director General of Foreign Trade made Pharmexcil the sole agency to issue RCMCs to all Pharma exporters. The activities of the Council are administered by Committee of Administration consisting of representatives from major Pharma industries in India like J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Limited, Suven Life Sciences Limited, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Aurobindo Pharma, Luipin, Ranbaxy, Novarties, Avantis, Ipca, Shasun, Sun Pharma, Zydus Cadila, Glowchem, Calyx etc., apart from Govt. officials from Central govt. and Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. Administrative support to the Council is extended by very rich experienced personnel from various fields like Govt. of India and Pharma industry.

Indian Hospital Pharmacists' Association

With a vision to promote the cause of Hospital Pharmacy, Dr. Bhagwan Das Miglani in the name and style “The Indian Hospital Pharmacist’s Association” was formed in the year 1963 at Pilani, during the 15th session of IPC held at Pilani. Dr. Surendra Rohtagi (Kanpur) was the founder President and Dr. B. D. Mihglani (Delhi) was the founder Secretary of IHPA.

The formal application was submitted by Dr. B. D. Miglani, Shri S. L. Nasa, Dr. G. K. Narayanan, Shri Malak Ram Issar, Shri Mohan C. Bazaz and Shri Devinder K. Jain to the Registrar of Societies for registration of Indian Hospital Pharmacists Association and the Association was accordingly registered under the societies Registration Act XXXI of 1860 vide Registration No. 3994,1968-69 dated 5th January 1969.

Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India

Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India an association found by the pioneers of Pharmacy education in India in 1966 by leading personalities like Prof. M. L. Schroff, Prof. G. P Srivastava and others, has come a long way in creating better intercommunication and promotion of excellence in pharmacy education. Through its tailor-made mission and objectives, the association has provided a single platform in bringing together teachers of pharmacy education from all over the country. This has helped in the achievement of excellent standards and to develop new technological methods in pharmacy education through the exchange of views amongst the teaching members. The emergent world today, with unbelievable sophistication under its belt, demands for technically sound and highly knowledgeable pharmacists. The contribution of a teacher is thereby quite demanding. A Teacher apart from being an educator also contributes to science as a researcher, helps in business development as a consultant to pharmaceutical industry and also creates social awareness as a community pharmacist.

Indian Pharmacy Graduates' Association

Indian Pharmacy Graduates' Association was Established In The Year 1973. The Association is registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

The Association Is Affiliated To Indian Pharmaceutical Congress Association (IPCA), the Federal Body Of The Five Associations Namely IPGA, IPA, IHPA, APTl And AlDCOC. IPGA Has Got The Income Tax Exemption Under Section 80G (5) (VI)) Of The Income Tax Act—1961.

Indian Pharmacy Graduates Association is national level association of Indian Pharmacy Graduates. It has been working from the last 30 years for the Up liftment of professionals of pharmacy. The association has a mission to improve the professional status of pharmacy graduates and to secure their rightful place in pharmacy and allied professions. At present IPGA has around 5600 Life Members in 17 state branches all across the country.

In Order To Provide Strength To The Profession Of Pharmacy, We Feel That The Pharmacy Graduates From All Corners Of The Country Should Join Hands Under The Banner Of IPGA To Provide Impetus On The National Issues And Programmes.

IPGA Has Been Constantly Engaged In Conducting Workshops, Annual Conferences, Seminars, And Other Activities To Up Date The Knowledge And Skills Of Pharmacy Professionals. It Also Published Quarterly News Letters In The Name Of IPGA TODAY which Covers The Various Activities Performed By The State Branches And Other Articles On Recent Advancement And Pharmaceutical Sciences. IPGA Is A Charitable Professional Organization And Is Exempted From Contributions Under The Section 80G Of Income Tax Act.

All India Drugs Control Officers' Confederation

The All India Drugs Control Officers' Confederation was framed on 28th December, 1995 at Visakhapatnam as a result of untiring efforts of many officers across the country and the initiative taken by the Andhra Pradesh Drugs Inspectors' Association, the Kerala Drugs Control Enforcement Officers' Association and Tamil Nadu Drugs Inspectors' Association.

The first Executive Committee with Shri R. Narayanaswami as the first President was elected at the said historical meeting. The Executive Committee immediately swung into action and a constitution of the AIDCOC was drafted at the meeting held at Hyderabad. In this meeting, the Objectives, Mission, Vision and the Strategy to be followed clearly defined and documented.
